Services, Committees & Reports

The primary purpose of Alcoholics Anonymous is to get sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety, and Step 12 asks us to carry the message to other alcoholics. One of the best ways to accomplish these parts of our program is through service work, so if you’re looking to get involved please join us!

Business within District 9 is carried out by the District Committee which consists of the General Service Representatives (GSRs) from each group in the district along with elected officers, committee chairs and other service members. Each month District 9 has a Group Conscience Meeting held on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm located at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1640 Genesee Street.* We are always looking for more people to get involved in service work within District 9 and any member of Alcoholics Anonymous is invited to attend the Group Conscience Meeting.

*Until further notice, Due to COVID-19, the District 9 Group Conscience Meeting is being held virtually.  For meeting id & password, please email district9dcm@aahmbny.org.

To better serve our district we have many committees focused on helping the message of alcoholics anonymous reach those both in and out of our program. Use the links below to find information specific to each committee we have.

In addition to dedicated service committees we also have several trusted servants that work in the background to keep District 9 in operation.

The District 9 Service Manual, in conjunction with the Area 48 Service Manual and the AA Service Manual lay out guidelines to define service positions and direct trusted servants in the performance of their duties.
